Given:

Total students = 400

Boys = 150

Girls = 250

Calculation:

12% of boys speak only Hindi → 12% of 150 = 18 boys

Boys speaking both languages = 6 × 18 = 108 boys

Total only Hindi speakers = 24% of 400 = 96

Girls speaking only Hindi = 96 − 18 = 78 girls

Total students speaking only Hindi = 96

Total boys speaking only Hindi = 18

∴ Girls speaking only Hindi = 78

Let total girls speaking both be = x

Total boys speaking both = 108

Now, find girls speaking both languages:

We know:

Girls = 250

Girls speaking only English = 22% of 250 = 55

Girls speaking only Hindi = 78

∴ Girls speaking both = 250 − 55 − 78 = 117 girls

Required Ratio:

Boys : Girls speaking both languages = 108 : 117

Simplify: 108 ÷ 9 = 12, 117 ÷ 9 = 13

⇒ 12 : 13
