Question
Download Solution PDFA shopkeeper has mixed 11L 370 mL of apple juice, 8L 490 mL of orange juice with 3L 150 mL of water. The mixture prepared was filled into small bottles of capacity 950 mL each. In how many small bottles, he might have filled this mixture and what will be the leftover quantity?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Total amount of apple juice = 11L 370mL
Total amount of orange juice = 8L 490mL
Total amount of water = 3L 150 mL
Capacity of a bottler = 950 mL
Formula used:
1 L = 1000 mL
Calculation:
Total amount of apple juice = 11L 370mL = (11 × 1000) + 370 = 11370 mL
Total amount of orange juice = 8L 490mL = (8 × 1000) + 490 = 8490 mL
Total amount of water = 3L 150 mL = (3 × 1000) + 150 = 3150 mL
Total amount of mixture = (11370 + 8490 + 3150) = 23010 mL
Capacity of a bottler = 950 mL
Therefore, 23010/950
⇒ Quotient = 24
⇒ Remainder = 210
∴ The shopkeeper might have filled this mixture in 24 bottles and 210 mL will be the leftover quantity.
