In a mechanical system, there are unbalanced forces produced due to the inertia forces associated with the moving masses. Balancing is done to reduce the unbalanced force to an acceptable level.
Static Balancing: Static balance occurs when the center of gravity of an object is on the axis of rotation. Static balancing is applied when all the masses are rotating in the same plane. In static balancing, only forces are balanced the couples are automatically balanced.
Dynamic Balancing: Dynamic balancing is applied when the masses are rotating in the different planes the centrifugal forces apart from force unbalance also create the moment imbalance. A system is said to be dynamically balanced if there is no force as well as moment imbalance. If the system is dynamically balanced then it is automatically statically balanced.
