The correct answer is (i) and (iii)

Key PointsHyderabad: The founder of the Asaf-Jah house of Hyderabad was Kilich Khan, popularly known as Nizam-ul-Mulk. Hence, statement 1 is incorrect.

It was Zulfikar Khan who had first conceived the idea of an independent state in the Deccan.

  • But with his death in 1713 the dream remained unfulfilled.
  • Kilich Khan, disgusted with the Mughal emperor who had appointed Mubariz Khan as a full-fledged viceroy of the Deccan, decided to fight Mubariz Khan.

Battle of Shakar-Khelda

  • Nizams established power in Hyderabad state.
  • The Battle of Shakar Kheda took place on 11 October 1724 at Shakar-Khelda in Berar near Aurangabad. This battle took place between Nizam-Ul-Mulk and Mubariz Khan, Subedar of Deccan. Nizam ul-Mulk defeated and killed Mubariz Khan in the battle. Hence, statement 2 is correct.

Title of Asaf-Jah
