We have,

⇒ Y's age = 2Z (since Y:Z = 2:1)

⇒ X's age = Z + 16

Given: X + Y + Z = 96

⇒ (Z + 16) + 2Z + Z = 96

⇒ 4Z + 16 = 96

⇒ 4Z = 96 − 16 = 80

⇒ Z = 20

Now:

Z = 20

Y = 2Z = 40

X = Z + 16 = 36

Given: X is 6 years younger than P

⇒ P = X + 6 = 36 + 6 = 42

Thus, the correct answer is 42 years.
