Statement I: In a row of 25 students, Monica is sitting 12th from right end of row and Rahul is sitting 20th from left end of the row.

Total students = 25

Monica's position from the right = 12th

Rahul's position from the left = 20th

Monica's position from the left = Total students - Monica's position from the right + 1

= 25 - 12 + 1 = 14th from the left.
Now we have:

Monica's position with respect to Rahul, we subtract Monica's position from Rahul's position:

⇒ 20 - 14 = 6

Here, data in the statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question

Statement II: II. Monica is 4th from right end and Rahul is 8th from left end.

Monica's position from the right = 4th

Rahul's position from the left = 8th

We do not know the total number of students in the row. As such, we cannot determine the distance between them.

Here, Statement II is insufficient to answer,

Therefore, Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while Statement II alone is not sufficient.

Hence, the correct answer is "Option 1".
