Download Solution PDFIn a compound belt drive, an engine pulley A of dia.750 mm rotating at 150 RPM drives pulley B of dia. 450 mm.Pulley C of dia. 900 mm keyed to the same shaft of pulley B drives dynamo pulley of dia. 150 mm. Speed of dynamo pulley is
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFExplanation:
Given:
N1 = 150 r.p.m. ; d1 = 750 mm; d2 = 450 mm; d3 = 900 mm; d4 = 150 mm
The arrangement of belt drive is shown in Fig. 11.10
Let N4 = Speed of the dynamo shaft.
1. When there is no slip
we know that \(\rm \frac{N_4}{N_1}=\frac{d_1× d_3}{d_2× d_4}\) or \(\rm \frac{N_4}{150}=\frac{750× 900}{450× 150}=10\)
∴ N4 = 150 × 10 = 1500 r.p.m.
