UPSC CDS Application Form 2025 Out: Steps to Apply Online!

CDS 2 2025 Application Form is out on 28th May 2025. The last date to apply online has been extended. Eligible candidates can apply online from till 20th June 2025 at upsc.gov.in. All candidates who wish to appear for the UPSC Combined Defense Services Examination must fill out the CDS Application Form at upsconline.gov.in. UPSC OTR 2025: One-Time Registration for CDS 

UPSC has introduced the One Time Registration (OTR) platform for candidates to use before filling out the CDS application form or for any other exam conducted by UPSC. After registering for OTR, candidates are only permitted to make changes once in their lifetime. The OTR can be completed at any time of year. To register for UPSC OTR, please follow the steps outlined below -

Step 1: Visit the official UPSC website.

Step 2: Click on ‘One-time registration (OTR) for examinations of UPSC and online application’ option on the homescreen. 

Step 3: Now click on the ‘New Registration’ option.

Step 4: Now fill details like Full Name, Gender, D.O.B, Father’s/Mother’s Name, Minority status, Board exam Roll No (Class Xth), Security Questions, and Valid Email ID and Mobile number (for Login ID)

Step 5: Enter the security captcha and click on ‘Submit’. 

Step 6: An OTP will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.

Step 7: Log-in back to your account, reset the password, and go for the UPSC CDS 2 Application Link. 

Steps to Fill CDS Application Form 2025

Candidates can fill out the UPSC CDS 2 Application Form from 28th May to 20th June 2025. The steps to be followed to successfully complete the UPSC CDS 2024 apply online process are explained in this section. 

How to Fill the CDS Application Form? - Part II

The registration process is covered in the FIRST section. Candidates must enter personal details as well as other information. Following successful registration, a registration ID will be generated, which will be required to proceed to Part 2 of the CDS application form-filling process. Let’s walk you through the steps to fill UPSC CDS Application Form Part 2 below: 

Step 1: Enter your Part-I Registration ID, date of birth and the Captcha code. Then click on ‘Submit’.

Step 2: Now pay the UPSC CDS application form fees by selecting a mode of payment (online/offline).

Step 3: Then, you will be asked to select your exam centre preference city. 

Step 4: Upload all the required documents such as photograph, signature, and photo ID proof as per the required dimensions and format.

Step 5: Agree to the Declaration Box and submit your application form for UPSC CDS Exam. Download a copy of the application form for future reference.

The table below lists all the details which you need to enter in the Part-I registration form.

Step 6: Upon filling all above details, click on ‘Continue’. Here, you will be redirected to 2nd Page. 

Step 7: Now in Page Two of filling the CDS Application form, you will be asked to enter the CDS exam centre and age relaxation details. NCC 'C' Certificate holders can allot any exam centre from their location. Once filled Page 2, click on Continue.

Step 8: Now in Page Three, enter at least one preference among IMA, NA, AFA, OTA. Candidates who are likely to have served Armed Forces must tick the NCC C certificate (Sr. Division) option and those who served Air Force must tick if they hold a commercial pilot license issued by DGCA on Page 3 itself.

Step 9: Click on ‘Continue’ now to validate all provided information first on Page 4.

Step 10: Once validated, enter Captcha and click on ‘I Agree’ option if all details are verified or click on ‘I Do Not Agree’ at the bottom Declaration Box. 

Step 11: Now in the last Page Five, the Registration ID will be generated by the system which means Part 1 CDS Application Form process is completed.

Prerequisites for CDS Apply Online 2025

Upload the relevant images and documents in jpg/jpeg format as requested by the UPSC. And a photo identity card in PDF format with the Commission's specifications. You can also use the Testbook Photo Crop Resize Tool to add specifications easily. 

Official Documents Required for CDS Application Form

Before starting on the UPSC CDS Apply Online process, candidates must keep ready some of their official and personal documents/certificates. The list of all the documents has been given below required during the CDS Application process.

• Photo ID in PDF format
• Application fee payment bank passbook
• Marksheet and admit card of Class 10th and 12th
• Scanned photograph and signature
• Bank details used to make application fee transaction

CDS Application Fees 2025

Candidates who have filled out the application form must pay the applicable CDS Application Fee. The fee can be paid online with a debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking. Aspirants from the SC/ST categories and other female aspirants will be exempted.

How to Withdraw UPSC CDS Application Form 2025?

Candidates who don’t want to appear for the CDS exam due to any unforeseen reasons can withdraw the UPSC CDS Application Form using the application withdrawal link. The steps to withdraw the CDS Application Form 2025 are as follows. 

Step 1: Visit the UPSC official website.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘Withdraw CDS Examination Application Form’ link.

Step 3: Enter your registration ID.

Step 4: Fill in your name, gender, date of birth, father's/mother's names, valid phone number and email ID.

Step 5: Select 'Yes' or 'No' from the dropdown menu and accept given T&C.

Step 6: Candidates' registered mobile number and email address will receive separate OTPs. A withdrawal request can only be processed after the OTP has been validated.

Step 7: After their request for CDS application withdrawal is approved, candidates must print the receipt. 

Step 8: Finally, on successful completion of the CDS application withdrawal, an auto-generated email and SMS will be sent on the candidate’s registered Email ID and mobile number

Note: Those who do not wish to take the exam will withdraw their application. After being withdrawn once, the application cannot be revived. The CDS Application form fees will not be refunded to candidates once they withdraw.

Common Reasons for CDS Application Rejection

• Incomplete submission of application form.
• Delayed/failed application fee payment
• Not fulfilling the CDS Eligibility standards. 

Things To Keep In Mind While CDS Application Form Filling

Keep following points in mind -

• Note your unique Registration ID and password in a copy or somewhere else. 
• Use an active/valid mobile number and email ID
• Keep your application form and fee receipt safely. Print hardcopies too. 
• Application Fee is non-refundable after withdrawal
• UPSC will consider the last-filled application form and cancel previous ones.

Choosing an examination centre is important in the CDS application form because candidates should select the closest centre to their residence.
