Which operation cannot be done easily on mild steel ?

Concept:

Drilling:

• It is a process of making a hole or enlarging a hole in an object by forcing a rotating tool called a Drill.
• The same operation can be accomplished in some other machine by holding the drill stationary and rotating the work.

​Punching

• It is a metal fabricating process that removes a scrap slug from the metal workpiece each time a punch enters the punching die.
• This process leaves a hole in the metal workpiece.

​Cutting:

• Cutting processes work by causing fracture of the material that is processed.
• Usually, the portion that is fractured away is in small-sized pieces, called chips.

Hardening:

• The use of this treatment will result in an improvement of the mechanical properties, as well as an increase in the level of hardness, producing a tougher, more durable item.

​Hence, hardening operation cannot be done easily on mild steel.
