Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFConcept Used:
A tricycle has 3 wheels, while a bicycle has only 2 wheels.
Explanation:-
Suppose x tricycles and y bicycles need to be manufactured.
As, total 15 tricycles and bicycles need to be manufactured. So,
⇒ x + y = 15
⇒ x = 15 - y .....(1)
Total number of wheels available is 40. Thus,
⇒ 3x + 2y = 40
Put the value of x from equation (1) in above equation,
⇒ 3(15 - y) + 2y = 40
⇒ 45 - 3y + 2y = 40
⇒ - y = 40 - 45
⇒ - y = - 5
⇒ y = 5
Put this value of y in equation (1),
⇒ x = 15 - 5
⇒ x = 10
So. total 10 tricycles and 5 bicycles can be manufactured, respectively.
Hence, the correct option is 4.
