- Formwork shall be designed and constructed so as to remain sufficiently rigid during placing and compaction of concrete.
- Formwork shall not be removed until the concrete has developed a strength of at least twice the stress to which concrete may be subjected at the time of removal of formwork.
As per IS 456:2000, clause Number 11.3.1, the minimum period before striking formwork shall be:
1. Vertical formwork to the column, walls, and beams = 16 - 24 hours (1 to 2 days).
2. Soffit formworks to slabs = 3 days
3. Soffit formwork to beams = 7 days
4. Props to slabs (spanning up to 4.5 m) = 7 days
5. Props to slabs (spanning more than 4.5 m) = 14 days
