Question
Download Solution PDFA starts from a point at a speed of 34 m/s. After 5 seconds, B starts chasing A from the same point at a speed of 44 m/s. What will be the distance travelled by B before A is caught by B?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Speed of A = 34 m/s
Speed of B = 44 m/s
Formula Used:
Relative speed in one direction = Speed1 -Speed2
Calculations:
⇒ Distance covered by A in 5 seconds = 34 × 5 = 170 m
⇒ Relative Speed of B w.r.t. A = (44 - 34) m/s = 10 m/s
Now, taking A to be at rest, B has to cover 170 m to catch A
⇒ Time taken by B to catch A = 170 / 10 =17 seconds
⇒ Total distance covered by B = 17 × 44 = 748 m
⇒ Hence, The correct option is 1
