A number is increased by 10% and then decreased by 10%. It is again increased by 20% What is the net change in percent?

Given:

The number is increased by 10%.

The same decreased by 10%. 

Last the number increased by 20%

Concept used:

Percent change = \({final\ value- initial\ value\over initial\ value}\times 100\)

Calculation:

Let the number be 100,

According to the question,

New number = 100 × 110/100 × 90/100 × 120/100 = 118.8

Percentage change = \(\frac{118.8 -100}{100}\times 100\)

Percentage change = 18.8%. 

∴ The net change in percent is 18.8% increase.
