Question
Download Solution PDFA grocer had a sale of Rs. 6735, Rs. 7227, Rs. 7155, Rs. 7530 and Rs. 6562 for 5 consecutive months. How much sale must he have in the sixth month so that he gets an average sale of Rs. 6800? (In Rs.)
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
1st month = Rs. 6735
2nd month = Rs. 7227
3rd month = Rs. 7155
4th month = Rs. 7530
5th month = Rs. 6562
Average = Rs. 6800
Concept used:
\(Average = {Sum\; of\; observations \over Total\; number\; of\; observation}\)
Calculation:
Let the sale of 6th month be 'X'
Substitute the values in the formula
⇒ \(Average = {Sum\; of\; observations \over Total\; number\; of\; observation}\)
⇒ \(6800 = {6735\;+\;7227\;+\;7155\;+\;7530\;+\;6562 \;+\; X \over 6}\)
⇒ 6800 × 6 = 6735 + 7227 + 7155 + 7530 + 6562
⇒ 40800 = 35209 + X
⇒ X = 40800 - 35209
⇒ X = 5591
∴ The sale of 6th month must be Rs. 5591.
