Question
Download Solution PDFStudy the given bar-graph and answer the question the follows.
The bar-graph shows the distance (in km) between two cities and speeds (in km/h) of a person to cover the respective distances.
What is the approximate average speed of the person while travelling from city A to city F?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The bar graph representing the distance between two cities and the speed of person to cover the distance.
Formula used:
Time = Distance/speed
Calculations:
Time taken in covering the distance A-B is
= 80/16 = 5 h
Time taken in covering the distance B-C is
= 120/40 = 3 h
Time taken in covering the distance C-D is
= 90/20 = 4.5 h
Time taken in covering the distance D-E is
= 60/30 = 2 h
Time taken in covering the distance E-F is
= 42/12 = 3.5 h
Now, Total distance from A to F = 80 + 120 + 90 + 60 + 42 = 392 Km
Total time taken to cover A-F = 5 + 3 + 4.5 + 2 + 3.5 = 18 h
So, Average Speed
= Total distance/ Total time taken
= 392/18
= 21.77...... ~ 21.78 Km/h
Hence, The average speed is 21.78 Km/h.
