The centrifugal pumps are easy to use. They don't need any valves or many parts that move. Because of this, they are easy to make with many different kinds of materials. It also lets them move quickly.

The main difference lies in principle behind the two pumps: The centrifugal pump operates with a pseudo-force known as a centrifugal force which is a force that pulls away from the centre whereas centripetal force pulls towards the centre.

Generally centrifugal pumps are called two names: Water pumps and Cantilever pumps. Though both are not so familiar, these are mostly referred to as pumps.

The most commonly used type is the radial flow pump.

The vanes of an open impeller are attached to a central hub which is mounted directly to the shaft. The closed type consists of back and front cover plates between which the vanes are usually sandwiched.
