Concept:

Degree of static determinacy for plane frame (rigid jointed) = 3m + R – 3J

Where, m = Number of members, R = Number of support reactions, J = Number of joints

Calculation:

m = 15, R = 3, J = 14

∴ Ds = 3m + R – 3J = 3 × 15 + 3 – 3 × 14 = 6

Important Point:

Degree of static indeterminacy in a plane frame = 3m + R – 3J

Degree of kinematic indeterminacy in a plane frame = 3J – R
