'Concept map ' cannot be used for:-

Concept mapping is a pedagogic technique to help students see explicitly how new concepts can be related to previously learned concepts.

• Concept mapping is given by Novak in 1961 but it is based on Ausubel's theory of verbal learning.
• Ausubel mainly focused on the importance of previous learning of new concepts.

Key Points According to Novak and Canas, " Concept maps are graphical tools for organizing and representing knowledge. They include concepts, usually enclosed in circles or boxes, and concepts are connected and connecting lines." A concept map cannot use summative assessment because:

• Summative assessment refers to the assessment of the learning that ‘sums’ or ‘summarize’ the development of students at a particular time.
• Summative assessments are typically given at the end of a course to determine how much the students have learned from the whole course.
• They are conducted formally and can be in the form of quizzes, essays, tests, or projects.
• It is the assessment of assessing performance that is conducted at the end of a course.
• It does not provide feedback and is done at the end of the session
• It is focused on the measurement of a pupil's achievement.
• It is outcome-oriented.

 ​Thus, it is concluded that a concept map cannot be used for the summative assessment of a lesson.
