In a historic move that celebrates two of the greatest Test cricketers of all time, the iconic Test series between India and England has been renamed the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. The announcement comes as a tribute to Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, two legends who have redefined longevity and excellence in the longest format of the game.
The new title replaces the Pataudi Trophy, which was awarded when the series was held in England from 2007 to 2022, and the Anthony de Mello Trophy, which had been in place for home series in India since 1951.
As part of the celebrations, Tendulkar and Anderson will jointly unveil the newly named trophy during the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final at Lord’s, underlining the significance of this change and the legacy of the two cricketing greats.

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most Test appearances (200) and most Test runs (15,921) — numbers that continue to inspire generations.
James Anderson, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, stands as the second most-capped Test player (188) and the third-highest wicket-taker in Test history (704 wickets), making him the most prolific fast bowler in the format.
