Dr. Shrikant Jichkar is widely recognized as India’s most educated person. Shrikant’s name is listed in the Limca Book of Records as the most qualified individual in the country. His educational background spans various fields, including medicine, law, business administration, and journalism, showcasing his remarkable intellectual capabilities.
Normally, most people may earn one or two degrees in their life. However, Dr. Jichkar was an exception. He earned 20 degrees from a staggering 42 universities. Born on 14 September 1954 in Nagpur, Shrikant had almost all the major degrees ranging from MBBS, LLB, MBA, Journalism, History, and Political Science. At the age of 25, Dr. Jichkar earned a place in the Limca Book of Records. During academics, Jichkar achieved a string of first-division results and earned numerous gold medals.

Extraordinary Life Of Shrikant Jichkar
Dr. Jichkar cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in 1978 and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS). He served in the elite service until 1980, after which he once again cleared the UPSC exam to become an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Four months after becoming the IAS officer, Dr. Jichkar resigned and was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly at the age of 26, becoming India’s youngest MLA. He later became a minister in the Maharashtra government, where he handled 14 portfolios simultaneously, a rare achievement. Jichkar also served as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) from 1986 to 1992.
In 1992, Jichkar reached Delhi as a Member of Parliament (MP), Rajya Sabha. He later represented India at many international platforms, including UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). In 1993, Dr. Jichkar founded the Sāndipani School in Nagpur under the Shrikant Jichkar Foundation.
Despite achieving all the heights in professional life, Jichkar lost in two Lok Sabha elections, 1998 from Bhandara-Gondiya and 2004 from Ramtek. His love for books was extraordinary, he owned 52,000 books in his personal library, making it one of the largest in India. Moreover, Dr. Jichkar initiated and established the Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Maharashtra. Jichkar also tried his hand at painting, acting, and photography.

Death At The Age Of 49
Dr. Jichkar died in a car accident on June 2, 2004, near Kondhali after his vehicle collided with a truck. In the accident, his relative, Shriram Dhawad suffered serious injuries. Shrikant was 49 years old when he passed away.
He served as an IPS officer, an IAS officer, a legislator at both state and national levels, a scholar with 20 degrees, and a passionate advocate of knowledge and culture. Few in the world shine as brightly as Dr. Jichkar, and his legacy will always inspire future generations to strive for excellence and serve with purpose.
