IMD Weather LIVE Updates: India will witness a significant change in weather conditions over the next few days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall over several states. While Northeast India will continue to experience light downpour, the other parts – East, Central, Northwest, and South Peninsular India- will see varied conditions with intense scattered rain. Additionally, residents can expect thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ahead.
Meanwhile, mercury is set to rise in Northwestern and Central India, and a warning for heatwave is also in place, particularly for Rajasthan. Residents can also expect a western Disturbance over the next few days and an upper cyclonic circulation. These combined weather systems, influencing rain and temperatures, are the reason behind the varied weather changes.
Those planning a trip, especially to the foothills of Himachal and Uttarakhand, can also expect light to moderate showers. Commuters must note that traffic disruptions are also likely due to rain in different regions. Light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places over East Rajasthan on June 7th and 8th, and over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh on June 11th and 12th.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.
The affected regions and timeframes are as follows:
Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over Odisha during 7th- 10th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamilnadu Puducherry & Karaikal on 7th and 8th June.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue across most or many areas of Northeast India over the next 7 days, with isolated heavy rainfall likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from June 9th to 12th. Tripura is expected to experience rainfall on the 7th, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may see rainfall from June 9th to 11th.
Light/moderate rainfall is likely at many/some places over Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka during the next 7 days. Additionally, light showers at some/isolated places accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Karnataka during 7th-10th June
Heat wave conditions are expected to persist over West Rajasthan from June 8th to 10th, and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, southern Uttar Pradesh, and northern Madhya Pradesh on June 9th and 10th.
Between 08:30 IST on June 6 and 05:30 IST on June 7, heavy rainfall was recorded in coastal Odisha, with Chandbali receiving 8 cm. Moderate rainfall occurred in coastal Maharashtra (Ratnagiri 3 cm, Santacruz 2 cm), Madhya Maharashtra (Nashik 2 cm, Pune 2 cm), Gangetic West Bengal (Kolkata 4 cm), north coastal Andhra Pradesh (Tuni 2 cm), and Tripura (Kailasahar 2 cm).
