To boost the public’s income creation through entertainment and recreation, Lulu Hypermarket is set to come up with an opening in May at two Metro stations, Shenoy Nagar and Central, said the city reports.
According to the DT Next report, construction work at both locations is underway and the contract has been awarded to Grace Service. Work is in full swing at the Wimco Nagar Metro Station and CMRL officials expect the completion period to be another three to four months. G. Charles Vasanthakumar of Grace Service remarked that both stations will provide food courts, popular textile outlets, and many other retail businesses.
The unique feature of Shenoy Nagar Metro station, however, will be housing a mini plex with a seating capacity of 600, screening the latest films in style just like other regular theatres in the city. With enough seating and good parking, the complex expects a strong footfall, he says. The basement of the Shenoy Nagar hypermarket will cover more than 1 lakh sq ft, while the Central Metro hypermarket will occupy 40,000 sq ft.
The Wimco Nagar facility covers 60,000 sq ft. A CMRL official highlighted that with ample parking and at prime locations, these Metro stations are highly expected to boost the footfall to ride. In addition to the revenue through transit services in Phase I and its extension, CMRL is exploring different avenues through various Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives to enhance its revenues.
